Welcome to the DataWeb web site!
DataWeb is a research group founded, in 2011, within the High Technical School of Computer Science (ETSII) of the University of Valladolid (Valladolid, Spain). Nowadays, DataWeb is integrated by young researchers and teaching staff from the Department of Computer Science working together with students from the ETSII and teachers and researchers from other national and international universities.
Our research falls within the area of Data Science and we are especially interested in Big Data management in different application scenarios. Currently, we have ongoing research in the following areas:
- Storage and indexing of RDF datasets in the Web of Data.
- Government data modelling under the Linked Open Data principles.
- Information retrieval tools for Big Data.
- NoSQL databases and large-scale processing on Map-Reduce.
In DataWeb we are very interested to disseminate the scientific knowledge underlying to our research work, showing how the Data Science currently affects to public, private, and scientific scenarios. For this reason, we regularly organize conferences about techniques, projects and tools within the current state-of-the-art of Data Science and some courses which focus on teaching basic techniques for Big Data management. In addition, we also try to have a varied range of academic projects aimed at students in the last stage of their undergraduate and graduate studies.
DataWeb is a young group willing to lean and to progress, hence any kind of comment, suggestion and collaboration will be studied and welcome. Please contact us under the “Contact” section of this page, add us to twitter and feel free to ask for further information.
